Last Monday, May 20th was my first day at Ticketmaster.

Wow, it even sounds strange to me. After 14+ years at Shopzilla, I have decided to move on to my next adventure as EVP Platform Engineering and Global Technical Operations at Ticketmaster.  The decision was not an easy one, but the opportunity was too exciting to pass up. Ticketmaster is deep in the middle of reinventing how tickets are sold and I am excited about the opportunity to be part of the team making that happen. My first week flew by as I spent most of my time getting to know the team and learning about the business.  The team’s passion for the company and their role in its success is invigorating. The scale of the operation is even more exciting up close.  The whole process where tickets go  “On Sale”  is kind of amazing to watch, traffic goes from nothing to literally millions of people beating down your front door fighting for the same seats.  The software to orchestrate this is very impressive. It held up for Saturday’s  One Direction on sale that was a record breaker.

It is very humbling to go from being the most tenured person at the company with as much tribal knowledge as there can be to being the person with the least tenure in the company with the least amount of domain knowledge.  Everyone is going out of their way to make me feel welcome even as they suffer through my endless questions 🙂
